...And who knows whether you have not come
to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
Esther 4:14
ESTHER
Yesterday, I traveled out to a remote village where people with HIV are sent to live...kind like a modern day leper colony. The children here are at high risk and many of them have HIV themselves. In the course of our visit, I discovered a little girl, with down syndrome. She was filthy, in clothes soiled with pee. Her stomach was full of parasites and she was horribly scarred wit cigarette burns all over her face and body. Her eyes were as dark and empty as anything I have ever seen on a child. I began to inquire about her and learned that she was forced to sleep outside, she did not speak and she had no name. She was basically just an outcast among the outcasts in this village.
She grabbed my hand and walked with me as we followed the team on our visit. I prayed as fervently as I know to pray and I heard the Lord so clearly say...Her name is Esther...name her. I grabbed our ministry leader and she got down on her knees and said in Khamai..your name is Esther. Immediately the little girl put her hands to her face, doubled over and when she looked up at us, she was smiling...the most beautiful smile I have ever seen in my life... I held her and sang Jesus loves you over her as she smiled and snuggled in my arms.
After some investigating, we found out that apparently her father had died of aids. Her caretaker has aids, is quite old, and does not really care for her. The team here in Poipet is beginning discussions with her about Esther's care or lack of it. The government will not remove her from the home even though she is being abused because she has a "family" and there is no place for disabled children here in Poipet. They are usually very neglected, left to die, or sold into the sex trade. It has been reported that there are whole brothels of handicapped children in this region of the world.
We are desperate for a strategy to rescue her so I ask that you pray! I hope to return in a few days with the team but in the meantime...Esther needs protection.
Before we left, one of our interpreters got down on his knees and spoke her name over and over. He kept saying you are Esther and she was laughing and smiling and then she SPOKE HER NAME! I had to walk away because my heart was literally wrecked.
The kingdom of heaven is like this.. a little girl forsaken...an outcast among outcasts..but God sees her...he knows her name...he loves her so much that he sent someone from across the entire world to find her.
The hardest thing I have ever had to do was leave her there but I know that I knowshe has been seen for a purpose. God has a plan for little Esther!
Love from the road,
Julie

I told someone yesterday at lifegroup that I thought you were going to pray for a little girl that couldn't talk and that she would be healed and begin speaking.
God you are amazing!

Kit Fagan- God Bless you Julie and God Bless little Ester, I admire you much for accepting God's calling and Hearing his voice. One of the songs in my heart is "Here I am Lord". Thrown away children are one of God's greatest gifts to those of us who have been Blessed enough to find them. It is heartwrenching to be in the trenches but the joy is insurmountable as well.
DeleteLionel Collins - It's a shame that in the world that we live in, and the amount of technology, farming, resources, medical break thru, that children "CHILDREN" have to be victims of such cruelty.... but the comfort comes in know that it's a place call "Hell" for those that knowingly do wrong, will welcome them..... Julie continue with the great work you're doing, and I'll remember you in prayer....
DeleteJulie this is a reply from Lionel when I told him I was forwarding his comment to you....
DeleteLionel Collins - Thank you, she doing a good thing, not many ppl have the faith to do what she's doing, and I salute her, it's a shame that ppl will not even help a person up, offer them a hand, if it's no money involved, but yet instill, laugh and video tape them... So the work Julie is doing is heaven sent.... Okay now I have to go and get a tissue, to wipe my tears away...
Mary Ewell- What great work she is doing, it saddens me deeply that there are so many children in the world just like Esther that suffer everyday. I wish I could take everyone of them into my arms and my home.

Julie, you are touching so many peoples lives...Here is a comment from a woman that I don't even know. She lives in New York ..
DeleteKara Raynaud - Friends with Aleta Wolfe
I love this so much. Thank you for sharing. It made me remember the story of Esther and this is what I found...Esther was an orphan. God still exalted her and used her. Some of Jesus' disciples were fishermen, tax collectors and one was a doctor. Your background does not determine what God can do with you. Your faith does.
Julie, I thanked Gina for her message and told her how you have taught me to look at every one through God's eyes and even love the unlovely...
DeleteGina Manning - There are no words for what Esther endures. So glad there are people like Julie. I wish I could help. The fact that sex trafficking exists is beyond sickening. But of course God loves her and someday her suffering will end. And one day the perpetrators will be punished because God is just.
Gaylene Gray Roderick - I have always believed that our names were always ours, both my childrens names were given to me, i never questioned it, now i have a beautiful story to reasure me, i hope this little girl gets to safety, i send my luv
DeleteWhat a great & fitting name! Who knows what she'll become . . .
